Acne concerns highly many people of all ages. There are many myths and facts that follow acne. The most common myths are:

Myth # 1: Poor Hygiene Causes Acne

If you believe in this myth, you will soon discover that despite the oiliness, the dead cells and the dust accumulation, persistent scrubbing of the face irritates the skin and worsens your acne.

Tip: For better hygiene, gently wash your face twice daily with a mild soap and use the appropriate acne treatment for your skin.

Myth # 2: Is Acne Due to Nutritional Factors?

Several scientific studies that have been carried out to date have failed to find an association between diet and acne. This means that our diet does not affect acne. Not even chocolate! Not even fried potatoes! Not even pizza!

Of course, if you belong to people who believe that certain foods affect their acne, just avoid these foods. After all, maintaining a balanced diet helps in a good health.

Myth # 3: Acne is not a disease.

Acne is a disease of the sebaceous glands of the skin. It affects the appearance of a person and, consequently, his phychological status. Acne can cause bad scars on his face or other parts of the body and this can affect his self-esteem and thus his social life.

Myth # 4: Acne Goes Away on Its Own

The truth is that acne can disappear but that might take years! There are so many treatments available today though. Why should you wait and live with acne and its scars?
