Cellulite is called the appearance of skin-deepening abnormalities on the buttocks, thighs and lower abdomen of women, resembling an orange peel. This is due to the deposition of fat between the connective tissue cells, which have lost their elasticity under the skin. Cellulite affects about 90% of adult women and appears to be due to hereditary, hormonal, nutritional factors, and to a lesser extent depends on the level of daily exercise.
How can cellulite be treated?
Various non-invasive treatments are used to treat cellulite, which are often combined (this of course depends on the “severity” of the cellulite). However, in all cases, adequate water intake, a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, few saturated fat and mild exercise to enhance the effect, are recommended.
The methods used are:
1) Mesotherapy
This technique can be used not only for anti-aging treatments but for treating cellulite as well. There are special substances that help to break down fat, improve microcirculation and drain lymph.(Read more)
2) Cavitation
It is a focused ultrasound device which is applied on the treated area .Ultrasound leads to liquefaction of fat cells and destruction of their cell membrane, which is removed by the lymphatic and venous pathway into the circulation and eventually excreted from the body by urine. The same method has also been successfully used to reduce local fat (e.g. thigs, waist, arms). Cavitation is commonly used in combination with RF technology, which appears to help to reduce cellulite but also to tighten the skin. (Read more)
3) Lymphatic massage (drainage)
Lymphatic massage is an adjuvant treatment and it is combined with Cavitation and RF, usually in the same session. They are devices that perform strong lymphatic massage and by increasing the microcirculation and thus tissue oxygenation they help removing toxic substances and fat degraded by Cavitation with the lymph. This improves the effect on the cellulite treatment. (Read more)
4) CelluErase
It is a procedure with which the bands of fibrous connective tissue among which adipocytes are trapped and create the “orange peel” appearance are destructed. This way, cellulite is improved. (Read more)
